Beech Trees North Downs Surrey

The right hand corner of this big powerful painting is typical of Michael’s sheer delight in paint. While never venturing into abstraction, in most of his paintings you’ll find sections of pure paint. Many of these trees seen near Michael’s studio at Reigate fell down in Britain’s big wind of 1987.
